The slice backhand requires a full unit turn, just like all professional ground strokes. In high-speed 240 FPS optical capture of Hicham Arazi, Lleyton Hewitt, and Roger Federer, we observe the essential reference points that define a world-class slice unit turn:

Key Checkpoints for the Slice Unit Turn

  1. Chin-to-Shoulder Contact: Your chin should be resting against or touching your hitting (front) shoulder. This guarantees a complete 90-degree torso coil relative to the baseline.
  2. Non-Hitting Hand Support: Your non-hitting hand stays firmly on the throat of the racket, carrying the racket head up above shoulder height and taking weight off the dominant forearm.
