ART-201: Master Plan — Athlete Career Plan (The "CEO Document")

Executive Summary

The athlete is the CEO of their career. The "Athlete Career Plan" is the strategic business plan — a living document that aligns Vision → Outcome → Performance → Process goals across the 5 Pillars, with quarterly reviews, annual pivots, and a 10-year horizon. This article provides the template and governance system.

The Career Plan Architecture: Four Horizons

Horizon 1: The Vision (10-Year / "The North Star")

  • Identity Statement: "I am a [playing style] player who [unique value proposition]." (e.g., "I am an aggressive all-court player who dictates with forehand +1 and mental resilience.")
  • Legacy Goals: What do you want said at your retirement press conference? (Ranking peak, Slam results, Impact, Character)
  • Values Compass: Top 5 Non-Negotiables (e.g., Integrity, Growth, Family, Health, Excellence). Every decision filters through these.

Horizon 2: The Outcome Goals (3-5 Year / "The Summit Targets")

  • Ranking Targets: Year 1: Top X. Year 3: Top Y. Year 5: Top Z.
  • Tournament Milestones: Slam Main Draw (Year X), Slam QF (Year Y), Masters 1000 Win (Year Z), Olympics/World Team.
  • Weapon Certification: "Forehand = Elite." "Serve = Weapon." "Return = Neutralizer." (Validated by 5-Pillar KPIs).

Horizon 3: The Performance Goals (Annual / "The Season KPIs")

  • 5-Pillar KPI Dashboard Targets:
    • Pillar I: GRF Symmetry > 95%, Hip Separation > 40°.
    • Pillar II: Routine Fidelity > 95%, Quiet Eye > 300ms.
    • Pillar III: Serve % > 65%, FH RPM > 3200, BH Depth > 70%.
    • Pillar IV: 1st Strike Efficiency > 55%, Pattern Unpredictability > 70%.
    • Pillar V: HRV Baseline > X, Injury Days < 5/yr, Sleep 8.5h avg.
  • Schedule Design: Surface Blocks, Peaking Windows, Travel Load Budget (TLU < 30/wk).

Horizon 4: The Process Goals (Quarterly-Monthly-Weekly-Daily / "The Daily Grind")

  • Quarterly: Full 5-Pillar Assessment (ART-118). Protocol Pivot.
  • Monthly: KPI Trend Review. Skill Acquisition Block Focus.
  • Weekly: Performance Board Meeting (ART-170). Theme Setting (ART-177).
  • Daily: Morning Contract (ART-177). Evening Download (ART-177). Load Management.

The Governance System: "The Board of Directors"

Practical Application: "The CEO's Desk"

The Athlete Career Plan sits on the CEO's desk. It is not a PDF in a folder. It is a living spreadsheet / Notion workspace / whiteboard updated weekly. The CEO (Athlete) reads it every Monday. The COO (Coach) references it every session. The Board reviews it quarterly. If it's not current, it's not a plan — it's a wish.
