ROOT — Rooting

Where does force come from? Ground connection is the foundation. No root, no force transmission.

The Rule

Screw feet into the ground, lift the arch, create a stable tripod.

Why It Matters

  • All kinetic chain force originates from ground reaction force
  • Unstable base = power leak at the source
  • Rooting enables the BRAKE (front leg stop) to work

Key Cue

"Screw feet, lift arch."

Training Drill

  1. Single-leg balance — 30s each leg, eyes closed
  2. Screw drill — back foot external rotation, front foot brace
  3. Medicine ball throws from rooted position

Common Errors

  • Flat feet: No arch = no spiral tension = no rotational power
  • Weight on toes: Leads to falling forward, early extension
  • Front foot spinning out: Loses brake, loses impulse
