DIT Drills — Inertia Training

Four drills for training the DIT (Dynamic Inertia Transfer) engine — the goal in each is to stop "swinging" the racket and start letting its own mass do the work, once NKF sequencing is already in place underneath it.

Drill 1: Shadow Swing With an Overweight Racket

Goal: reprogram the brain to manage inertia instead of fighting it.

How: use a training racket around 400g. Swing slowly, following the NKF sequence (feet → hips → shoulders → arm). Do not try to "push" the racket through the swing — feel the extra mass "pull" the arm along instead.

Drill 2: Sweet Spot Hunting

Goal: minimize shock rebound, $\tau$.

How: hit soft balls, focusing entirely on getting the ball to strike the exact center of the string bed. When you find the true sweet spot, $\tau$ drops to its lowest point — that's the feedback signal telling you contact was clean.

Result: a clean sweet spot lets you add swingweight without paying for it in sore joints.

Drill 3: Weight Shift Drill

Goal: use player mass, $m_{player}$, to help move the swingweight, $I_{swing}$.

How: shift your center of mass fully onto the front leg before swinging the heavier racket. Feel the force coming up from the ground pulling the racket through, rather than your arm doing the pulling.

Drill 4: Lead Tape Experimentation

Goal: find the optimal placement and gram weight for your own racket.

How: add 5g at 12 o'clock on the racket head and hit with it for a week. Then add another 5g at 3 and 9 o'clock and compare. Track the change with AI video analysis of your Smart Index over time.
