The 4-Month Roadmap — From 3.0 to 3.5

A four-month periodization plan built around a different lens than the 12-Week Master Plan: instead of sequencing through the engine stack (DET → NKF → DIT), it moves a player through four phases of a broader framework — foundation and awareness, perceptual reading, internal power generation, and footwork/tactical integration. Where the 12-week plan is the engine-focused route, this is the awareness-and-movement-focused route; the two can run side by side or be used as alternate templates depending on what a player needs most.

Month 1 — Foundation and Vision

Goal: build the awareness base and internal strength that everything else sits on.

Weeks 1-2 center on diagnosing your own movement patterns and activating the body's center of gravity — daily work includes 5 minutes of centered breathing, 10 minutes of standing meditation (a stillness/posture hold), and 5 minutes of self-diagnosing your own movement tendencies.

Weeks 3-4 shift from unconscious, habitual practice into deliberate practice, and introduce the broader RPM framework this roadmap is built on.

Daily practice (20 minutes): 5 min centered breathing, 10 min standing meditation, 5 min movement self-diagnosis.

Month 2 — Perception

Goal: develop the ability to read the ball and the opponent.

Weeks 5-6 combine soft-focus ball tracking with split step timing work. Weeks 7-8 move into reading opponent intent and managing cognitive load under pressure.

Daily practice (30 minutes): 10 min focus/two-point-focus drills, 10 min rhythm split-step work, 10 min "no-ball" cue-reading practice.

Month 3 — Internal Power

Goal: build the ground-force foundation and spiral movement patterns that generate power.

Weeks 9-10 focus on using ground reaction force and sequencing it through the body (see Ground Reaction Force and Kinetic Chain). Weeks 11-12 move into spiral rotation and releasing acceleration through a relaxed wrist (see Wrist Lag and Release).

Daily practice (30 minutes): 10 min plyometric push-offs, 10 min medicine-ball slams, 10 min drop-and-catch work for a loose wrist.

Month 4 — Movement and Integration

Goal: complete the footwork system and bring it together with tactics under match conditions.

Weeks 13-14 build the overall movement framework and crossover-step footwork. Weeks 15-16 cover stance selection (open vs. closed), the run-around forehand, and defending a deep ball. Week 17 covers winning patterns and cognitive-load management in competition. Week 18 is dedicated to building a long-term self-coaching system (see Self-Coaching Discipline).

End-of-Program Benchmarks

After four months, a player following this roadmap should be able to check off:

  • A stable, reliably activated center of gravity
  • An automatic split step with correct timing
  • Smooth ball tracking, reading 60-70% of available cues
  • A forehand with visible spiral rotation and kinetic-chain sequencing
  • Natural crossover-step footwork and recovery
  • Situational judgment on open vs. closed stance
  • Three practiced, repeatable winning patterns
  • A stable pre-performance routine
